About the Location

The prefecture of Messinia is located on the southwest of Peloponnesus. It borders to the north with the river Neda and the mountain range of Arkadia Ori, to the east with Mt Taygetos, to the south with the Gulf of Messinia and to the west the Ionian Sea. To its north is the prefecture of Ilia, northeast is the prefecture of Arkadia and on the east the prefecture of Lakonia. Kalamata is the largest commercial and industrial centre as well as the most significant port in the area.
